I know a lot of you out there have one of these, or have seen them before. Probably my most indispensable piece of tea gear I own. Zojirushi,s are brilliant! I cant imagine life without one. They make brewing any tea as easy as pie. With multiple temperature settings brewing any tea be it Sencha, Black or Oolongs as easy as pushing a button. Programmed settings are 212, 208, 195 & 175. Built in seven hour timer, so you can wake up to hot water ready when you are. Or ready when you get home from work. Large water tank, different models have different capacity's. Easily viewed from the front as to how full the tank is. When I first got this I think it took me oh,....maybe ten minutes to fall in love with it. Also great for hot cereal, instant soups or even warming a baby's bottle. These sell for a little over $100.00 if you shop around. Very easy to clean, no drip spout. If you don't have one of these, Get One! You wont regret it.
Been thinking about getting one of these for a while now. So, if you want to go from say 175 or 195 to 208, does it re-boil the water? If so, does it make your brew taste flat?
ReplyDeleteYes it does re-boil the water if your going to raise the temperature. I as well as many, many other people love their Zoe,s and cant imagine life without one. There are so many advantages that they far out weigh the couple of disadvantages. Water always ready when you want it, I can come home from work and have a freshly boiled kettle of water waiting, or wake to hot water also. I would imagine that if you were to continuosly keep re-boiling the same water it would be flat but Ive never found it to be a problem. You dont have to fill the entire container full of water, you can just put in as much as you will need and then the re-boiling is a non issue. The Zoe as far as I,m concerned is a must have tea ware. Though for Puerh or other teas that I,m going to be needing a lot of "boiling" water I use my clay kettle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lo down, Bret. I generally drink an estate Assam, Puerh, or a Chinese red tea in the am, then transition to lower temp teas in the afternoon/eve, so I imagine I'll be setting different holding temps that won't require a re-boil. As you mentioned, the advantages appear to WAY outnumber the disadvantages.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, really dig the blog! Very informative.
